Carl performs as part of the opening event of the the inaugural Maebashi Biennale will run from September 19 to December 20, 2026, across Gunma Prefecture. The venue is an abandoned building on Ginza Street distinguished by its eye-catching gold ceramic-tile façade. Co-produced by creative coder Atsushi Tadokoro, artist Kenzo Onoda, and Masa Hosojima of OtoZono, this event brings to Maebashi’s central shopping district an array of musicians from abroad such as Jim O’Rourke, Carl Stone, and Christophe Charles. Together—in an area undergoing accelerated hollowing out as it faces large-scale redevelopment—they will bring forth three special nights where music, video, digital, and physical merge into one.
